My Professional Development
People working to reduce the harm caused by alcohol and other drugs come from many different backgrounds and have varying qualifications. Their roles may be as: AOD workers, nurses, social workers, psychologists, counselors, doctors, Indigenous workers, allied health workers, researchers, policy writers, project officers, managers or administration workers. Those working in the fields of homelessness, domestic violence, law enforcement and prisons also have an interest in AOD.
The AOD field is constantly changing and workers must change with it. The challenge for a worker is to develop new skills, knowledge and approaches in order to perform well, contribute to the overall success of their organisation and develop themselves personally and professionally.
Whilst this section is primarily for specialist AOD workers who want help to gain skills and knowledge for personal and professional development, other groups may also find the information provided useful.
